FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Clear answers about pledges, tracking, reminders, guidance and your data.
01
What is Stedy?
Stedy is a moderation and commitment tool. It helps you choose a drink limit before an occasion, lock in that decision, track honestly and review whether you kept the promise you made to yourself. It is not an abstinence or recovery program.
02
Does Stedy tell me how many drinks are safe?
No. You choose your own limit. Stedy does not calculate a medically safe amount, measure blood alcohol concentration or provide medical advice. Never use Stedy or its drink count to decide whether it is safe to drive.
03
How does a pledge work?
Choose the maximum you intend to have for this occasion and press Lock It In. The pledge records the decision you made before tracking so the result can remain honest.
04
What does a Live Pledge link show?
The person you share the private link with can see your first name and the limit you pledged for this occasion, then press “I've got your back.” They do not need Stedy or an account. The page does not show your surname, live drink count, history, contact details or other onboarding answers. They can add one optional short encouragement message with their acknowledgement; you'll see it in Stedy while tracking. The acknowledgement is sent once, and the link expires or can be revoked.
05
How does drink tracking work?
Add each drink as the occasion happens. You can undo the latest entry if you added it accidentally. When the occasion is over, finish tracking to record the result and update your progress.
06
What happens if I go over my pledge?
Stedy keeps the count and result honest without shaming you. The companion may offer a pause or another approved support action, and the completed occasion remains part of your private history.
07
How do reminders work?
Stedy can schedule local reminders when you explicitly enable them. A one-off pledge reminder is tied to the current occasion. Pause-complete and unfinished-occasion reminders follow the preferences you choose. Delivery depends on your device and notification settings.
08
How does companion guidance work?
Stedy selects from approved, supportive messages using the current occasion, preferences you chose and eligible history stored on your device. Guidance does not diagnose you, determine a safe amount or replace professional care.
09
Where is my information stored?
Stedy saves tracking on your device first, so an active occasion can continue without a connection. When you are signed in, supported plan, commitment, drink-entry, preference and completed-occasion data is queued and synchronized to Supabase when you are online. Offline changes retry automatically. Signing in can restore supported account state and the most recent 100 completed-occasion summaries. Unsynced changes cannot be recovered from a lost or cleared device. Live Pledge stores only the limited information needed to operate the private link. Read the full details in our Privacy Policy.
10
How do subscriptions and the free commitment work?
After onboarding and sign-in, you can deliberately choose one complete free commitment without starting a subscription or Apple trial. Another commitment requires an active subscription. Monthly and annual options, local pricing and any eligible trial terms appear before purchase. Manage Apple billing through iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Stedy Settings → Membership. Deleting the app or account does not cancel billing. Read the subscription instructions.
11
How do I export or delete my data?
Open Stedy Settings → Privacy & Data for Export My Data and Delete Account & Data. Clearing local data is not account deletion, and account deletion does not automatically remove analytics, separate feedback accounts or store billing records. See our privacy choices and deletion instructions, or email us if you cannot access the app.
12
Can I use Stedy without choosing an accountability person?
Yes. Accountability and sharing are optional. If you tap Share Pledge, Stedy opens your device's share sheet so you can choose how and with whom to share it. Stedy does not request contact access, upload your address book, choose a recipient or send anything automatically.
13
How do I get more help or report a problem?
To suggest an idea or share product feedback, open Settings and tap Give Feedback to open our UserJot board in your phone's browser. For private help or an app problem, open Help & Support and choose Contact Support, or email hello@stedyapp.com. Do not send sensitive health information or another person's contact details.
